How do people feel about a windfall profits tax? I see no problem with it, however, I don't think they should rebate consumers. Oil is going to "peak" the only question is when, not if? After peak oil demand will exceed supplies and prices will really be driven up. I think that the "windfall tax" should be earmarked for R&D for alternative energy research. I'd be much more content with high gas prices if I knew the money was going to the future alternative technologies rather than to the oil companies balance sheets.
