Technically, they are not trying to overturn any laws; they are trying to overturn a ruling that prevents the legal enforcement of many state laws. The right-wing has little respect for the judicial branch. They certainly do not see it as co-equal with the Legislative and Executive, having both the right and the duty to check and balance the acts of the other two.
