One man's view of a small corner of the planet.
The opinions are my own and, while I welcome your comments, I will maintain decorum here.
Well, you know, that's the problem in America, we're always having elections.
I think thats a pretty unfair quote... given the context of the interview. If you read that quote with the question asked, and after reading the question that was asked before, then it should be obvious that this was a sarcastic statement.Of course, with the media being the way it is, politicians should never say anything sarcastic. You'd think they'd know by now that they will be sound bited... and it will bite them. That's why I could never be a politician.
Finding context in the printed word is tough. That's why e-mail isn't the best way to solve a dispute. So much of intent is found in inflection.Sarcasm amd glibness aren't good choices if you're peaking or writing for publication.Having said that, compare it to; "If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator.""Words have meaning," a wise blogger just shared with me and I agreed with him.
