Forgiving Mark Green

You can almost forgive Mark Green for saying this after a trip to Baghdad in 2003. A lot of Republican Congressmen were making excuses then just as they are today.
“For so much of the country, everyday life goes on as normal. As you’re flying
in over (Baghdad), the streets are busy, the shops are open, the cafes are open,
the schools are running, and people are going about their
everyday lives. For the vast majority of Iraqis, I think life is returning to
normal.” (Green Bay Press-Gazette, “Terrorist Acts Will Backfire, Green
Says,” October 28, 2003)
But how can you forgive him for forgetting that he washed himself out of the Navy?
